Kids grow up in Stratford and then can't afford to live here.
Council doesn't build houses, but it controls approvals, city-owned land, and who it partners with. Here are two fixes I'd push for:
- Faster approvals for attainable and missing-middle homes, so good projects aren't stuck in process.
- City-owned land put to work through partnerships with builders and non-profits, instead of letting it sit vacant.
I'd also build on the City's own affordable housing at Britannia Street, and I'd want results reported in public: people housed, not announcements.
